Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes

System: Nintendo Switch Release date: 18/01/2019

The otaku assassin returns!

Travis Touchdown wanders into the game world and embarks on a rampage of epic proportions in Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes for Nintendo Switch! Beam Katana in hand, slice and dice through a variety of game worlds, then square up to the boss at the end of each game!

The story so far

Several years after No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle, Travis is living his best life in a trailer in the American south, along with his pet cat Jeane. The open air, absolute freedom and plenty of video games…what more could an otaku assassin want?

That is until Badman, the father of Travis’ past opponent Bad Girl, shows up to exact revenge for Travis’ role in her demise!

Get into the game – literally!

During the ensuing battle, things go horribly wrong and the two are sucked into the Death Drive Mk II – a legendary gaming console that plays games using mysterious objects known as Death Balls. It’s said that collecting all six Death Balls – and beating the games that they contain – will grant the successful player one wish…

Now Travis and Badman must put aside their differences, team up and fight their way through several game worlds in a bid to gain that elusive wish, exterminating every last Bug as they go.

Play dirty

Each virtual world has its own vibe, from straight-up battle-action to puzzle-action, so you never know exactly what you’re going to get – except loads of hack and slash combat! Tear through hordes of Bugs, using Travis’ Beam Katana or Badman’s trusty bat, and don’t stop until each game’s boss is annihilated!

Get into the action

Two can play that game

Two players can battle side-by-side co-operatively with a single Joy-Con each, so pass a Joy-Con to a friend* and destroy Bugs as a duo! Use Skills to squash Bugs in seconds, or bring the pain with super effective Charge Attacks that wipe out most enemies with ease. In co-op play, combine your powers to unleash a simultaneous Charge Attack on any unfortunate foes – they won’t know what hit ‘em!

On the hunt

After clearing a game world, jump on your motorcycle and seek out the next Death Ball in hilarious adventure scenarios starring Travis. Or just chill out in your trailer, reading all about games and ramen.

Fashion victim

As an avid gamer and otaku culture aficionado, Travis Touchdown’s wardrobe wouldn’t be complete without a wide range of t-shirts. In Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, he shows off his indie cred with tons of tees based on real-world indie games, including Dead Cells, Morphies Law and Hyper Light Drifter.

Gameplay

Game time!

Choose between the legendary assassin Travis Touchdown and Bad Girl’s aggrieved father Badman, and let the destruction begin!

Let your Beam Katana – or bat – do the talking as you hack and slash through droves of enemies. Use a variety of moves, from quickfire swipes and stronger strikes to charged up super-moves, and combine attacks with jumps and dashes to inflict even more pain. Between attacks, stay out of harm’s way with well-timed dodges!

Charge up!

You'll build up tension as you battle. Once it’s full, go all-out with a flashy Charge Attack that takes no prisoners! If your tension is at its maximum level, you can even unleash three Charge Attacks one after the other!

Be warned: your weapon will become less effective if it’s low on power. When the weapon’s battery meter is depleted, give your controller a good, hard shake to bring it back to full power and get back into the action!

Make a move

During your adventure, seek out Skills that will give your offense even more edge. Create black holes that pull your enemies into one place for quick dispatch, electrify foes with lightning bolts, slow them down within a certain area, and more. Mix and match up to four of these Skills to find your favourite setup!

These aren’t the only useful things you’ll discover along the way. Munch down at a ramen stall to regain health, pick up coins to get in-game currency (LB$), or take a load off at a toilet to save your game.

Beat ‘em at their own game

A challenging boss awaits at the end of each game world – and they all have the home team advantage. Use everything at your disposal to take on these tougher-than-average adversaries, but don’t expect them to go down easily!

Overcome each stage of their assault, then finish them off once and for all with one of Travis’ trademark wrestling moves. Game over!

Assassins unite

Fighting’s always more fun with a friend, so partner up with another player and enjoy the action co-operatively on one Nintendo Switch system*. Go back-to-back against swarms of Bugs, and blast through anything with an over-the-top team Charge Attack, Choco Banana Crepe with Caramel Ice Cream!

You only need one Joy-Con each to join the battle. You can also use Nintendo Switch Pro Controllers or two Joy-Con controllers in a Joy-Con grip.

Worlds apart

Each of the Death Drive Mk II’s game worlds, from once-peaceful neighbourhoods to war-torn deserts, has its own atmosphere and obstacles to face. Chopping ‘til everything drops is at the heart of each action section, but you’ll also need to find your way through puzzling environments, take part in races, and more!

Live to tell the tale

Once you’ve thoroughly debugged a Death Drive game, jump on Travis’ motorcycle and hunt down the next Death Ball in hysterical story segments.

CI_NSwitch_TravisStrikesAgainNoMoreHeroes_Gameplay_13.jpg

Give the Beam Katana a rest and dive straight into the psyche of Travis Touchdown in stylish text-based scenarios narrated by the otaku assassin himself. Meet bizarre characters, travel far and wide, talk pop culture, and see a whole new side to Travis’ beloved pet, Jeane the cat.

Take it home

Between battles, head back to Travis’ trailer to relax and prepare for the next onslaught. Log onto the PC to get new t-shirts, or seek out delicious deets on what to eat at the Ramen Blog. Elsewhere, check your messages on the fax machine, and browse through articles about Death Drive Mk II and its games. Who knows, you might even find a helpful hint or two!

Before you return to the rampage, freshen up by saving your game or changing tees in the bathroom. The kills might not always be clean, but at least Travis can be!

Collaborations

Tee time

Travis Touchdown isn’t fighting assassins in the real world this time, but some things never change – he’s always on the lookout for fresh threads!

Grab coins to earn in-game cash (LB$), which can be exchanged for new t-shirts for Travis to wear. This time, many of the t-shirts are based on real-world indie games, like Hyper Light Drifter, Dead Cells, Morphies Law, and many more!

A few of them could prove tough to acquire, though, as some special tees can only be exchanged for mysterious objects hidden in each game world…

You might like these games just as much as Travis!
