EGGCONSOLE PUYO PUYO PC-9801

Nintendo Switch

A classic falling-block puzzle game! Connect four Puyos of the same color to clear them!

This game is an action-puzzle title released by COMPILE in 1993 in Japan. Gameplay involves clearing falling Puyos by matching four or more of the same color. Players battle head-to-head, strategically managing Puyos. Stacking Puyos to the top means a loss. Clearing large amounts or triggering chains sends Nuisance Puyos to opponents. Though a falling-block puzzle game, it’s known for strategic depth. The game offers four modes: Solo Puyo Puyo (VS Computer), Duo Puyo Puyo (VS Human), Endless Puyo Puyo (VS Yourself), and Riddle Puyo Puyo (VS Brain). These modes allow players to practice and enjoy Puyo Puyo in various ways. Beyond its excellent puzzle mechanics, the game is also highly praised for its world-building. Between stages, players can enjoy humorous skits featuring 13 unique characters. Can you defeat them all? The PC-9801 version, while lacking battle voices and unique enemy AI, features its own distinct elements, such as Puyo preview indicators displayed in vertical columns on the screen’s edges for better visibility. Be sure to check out these exclusive features!
