About Automatic Renewal

Automatic renewal is a feature for customers who would like to continue using a paid service over an extended period.

For example, when automatic renewal is activated for a pass, the pass will automatically renew 48 hours prior to the end of the then-current period, eliminating the need to manually purchase a new pass.

Types of Automatic Renewal

Time-Based

Under automatic renewal, when a term is completed, the pass is automatically renewed at the same price for the same term as was initially agreed on for the pass. (However, upon separate notification at the time of initial purchase, automatic renewal may happen with a different term or a different price from the initial time. Moreover, special offers applied only to the initial term are not applied to payments for the next term or any following terms.)

If, while automatic renewal is active for a pass, you purchase another version of the same pass with a different automatic renewal term, the pass will be subsequently renewed with the same term as the new pass.

Please note that, while a pass is active, it may not be possible to buy the same pass again.

Date-Based

Under automatic renewal, when a term is completed, the pass is automatically renewed at the same price from the same day and time in the following month that corresponds to the day and time initially agreed on for the pass. (However, upon separate notification at the time of initial purchase, automatic renewal may happen with a different term or a different price from the initial time. Moreover, special offers applied only to the initial term are not applied to payments for the next term or any following terms.)

If the same day does not exist in the following month, automatic renewal occurs at the end of the month. From the following month onward, it will automatically renew on the same day as that.

During the automatic renewal term for a pass, it will not be possible to buy the same pass again, even if automatic renewal for that pass has already been terminated.

Duration and Payment Method for Automatic Renewal

If automatic renewal is set for a pass, that pass will automatically renew for successive periods matching the regular original validity period of the pass until automatic renewal is terminated. The automatic renewal price per period is the same as the undiscounted price for the original period of the pass or shown on the details page for the pass. If you already have an ongoing validity period of an automatically renewing pass for a paid service and purchase in Nintendo eShop another automatically renewing pass for the same service, the renewal period and price will match the regular original validity period and automatic renewal price of the pass that was purchased last.
For each automatic renewal, the automatic renewal price will be deducted from your Nintendo eShop funds. If you do not have sufficient Nintendo eShop funds, the automatic renewal price will be charged to your credit card or the PayPal account registered to your Nintendo Account and set as the payment method for automatic renewal at the time automatic renewal takes place.
You can change your payment method for automatic renewal at any time from Funds and Payment Methods in your Nintendo Account settings.
